George Washington is known for many things in life, but one of the most notable is not noted nearly enough. George Washington was a Master Mason. As with many of the "Lions" of the day, he could not stand idly by and watch England conquer another land for the "Crown", leaving the masses hungry for knowledge, faith and freedom from oppression.
Those "Lions" consisting mostly of Freemasons, inspired the meek, the common, and the poor, to be more than that which they were born into. Instead, choosing a path for themselves of true Nobility, Dignity, and Honor throughout the world. Pushing upward and onward for the Glory of God with Freedom, Fervency, and Zeal. Of course with a mission as dangerous as this, one would need to know he was in good company.
A Master Mason, when spoken to as such, can always count on his Brothers to care for him more than any other, and protect them from the dangers they may not even know exist. Even today you will find a similar photo of Washington, in his apron, in almost every Masonic Lodge in the United States of America.

This imposing shrine occupies a commanding site in Alexandria, Virginia, high above the Potomac River, on Shooters Hill, overlooking the city of Washington. The famous places of Mt. Vernon, Gunston Hall, and Arlington are within a circle of a few miles.
Designed in the architecture of Greece, the Memorial's picturesque external beauty surpasses anything known in America. Within, is an elaborate auditorium, the Memorial Hall, supported by eight sixty-ton polished green granite columns, with a special niche for the statue of George Washington as Master of his Lodge. There are also an elegantly furnished Lodge Room and many other notable Masonic appointments. The massive tower rising high toward the heavens contains seven floors set apart for Library and Museum Rooms, States' Remembrance Room, and other special purposes.
"Like a statue for all eternity to contemplate" stands this notable shrine to
George Washington, not only the father of his country, but a most brilliant
star in the blue skies of Freemasonry; truly, this is "a lamp to the world
of men".
