The Great Light In Freemasonry

In Freemasonry, we are Traveling to that "Celestial Lodge Above". The York Rite Journey is a continuation of this biblical journey that began in your Home Lodge. This is why so many Masons throughout Texas choose this path once they have been "raised" to the sublime degree of a Master Mason.

Although Freemasonry at it's core is a non-religion based system of morals and ethics, that teaches us how to live a more intentional life of good works, free from pride and prejudice, it is only complete with the favor of our most precious resource available to man.... God's Good Graces, which we must learn through study, and the practical applied sciences learned through the Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of man. (The application of those lessons learned in the parables found in the books of faith and the parables of the Degrees of Freemasonry)

This is why The Great Light in our Lodge, comes from The Holy Bible...

Just In Case....

Just in case you do not believe in the Holy Bible as Your personal book of faith, it is only fitting we clear a few things up.

The Bible, as with any Book of Faith, should be our "Rule and Guide" to our Faith and Practices. What does this mean? As with the degrees themselves, books of faith are not intended to be taken as literal truth, but a guide to learning those Godly Truth's which make us better men for our family's and communities. The men that all will look to as the sound, honest, and integrity based leaders they are willing to turn to no matter what their own faith is.

However, York Rite Freemasonry, which is the base degree system in the Grand Jurisdiction of Texas, receives its Light from Biblical Teachings from the King James Bible.

Why King James??

As with most Freemasons of the day, enlightenment was the driving force behind every great undertaking. Fortunately, King James VI of Scotland had the resources to commission the employment of forty-seven (47) language specialists to write the New King James version Bible, which incorporated the Old and New Testament!

At the time there was only one version of the Bible being translated, which could only be translated by the Church. Why was this so important? There was only one force at the time as, or more, powerful than the Kings and Queens of the day. The Church!

Again, why was this important? It's simple, as well as the same reason of today! An individuals faith is the single most personal discovery one can make. Should we really rely on someone else's interpretation of God, the Grand Architect of all, to decide our fate for eternity? If you answered no, I would say you are a Freemason! If not on paper, then you are well on your way at heart!
